5 TIPS TO SUPERCHARGE YOUR SLEEP September 4, 2017 – Posted in: Lifestyle

Do you always feel that you’re doomed to toss and turn every night? Do you rarely wake up rejuvenated, energized, and ready to take on the day? You have tried all ways from setting a sleep schedule to including physical activity in your daily routine, but still cannot have a good night sleep. How about trying the following alternative ways to supercharge your sleep?

1. PRACTISE FENG SHUI

Feng Shui is the practice of arranging your environment so that energy or “chi” flows gently and smoothly through your home or business environment. In this way, your space just feels good and supports whatever you want out of life, whether it’s a better career, new romance, improved health, more income, of course a good night sleep too.

A bedroom with poor Feng Shui may block or weaken energy flow, making you feel tired, depressed, or unable to focus.

For example, energy tends to be stagnant near the walls of a room. Place your bed away from corners to avoid feeling stifled by the lack of space between the side of your bed and the wall.

When lying in bed you should have full view of the door, but the soles of your feet should not face the doorway. You may feel anxious if you are unable to see who is approaching the room, and overtime, this could create an imbalance in the nervous system.

Other Feng Shui tips include no sleeping under beam, no mirror in front of the bed and so on.

2. GET A HOUSEPLANT

Houseplants can enhance the quality and quantity of indoor microbiome. Studies have shown that plant associated bacteria could act as counterparts against pathogens within the microbial ecosystems. Houseplants stabilize the ecosystem, enhance biodiversity and avoid outbreaks of pathogens.

That’s why other studies show that houseplants are the best filters of common pollutants such as ammonia, formaldehyde, and benzene. Hundreds of poisonous chemicals may be released by furniture, carpets, and building material and then trapped by closed ventilation systems. Plants absorb toxins and pollutants through their leaves and release oxygen. They provide cleaner air that prevents respiratory and allergic reactions caused by chemicals.

3. WEAR A NICE PYJAMAS

One of my customers swear by it. She said that we should not be wearing the same clothes which we wore when watching TV or working on computers to sleep. I couldn’t agree more. Wearing your old college sweatshirt to bed, your boyfriend’s favourite T-shirt or even yesterday’s clothes is a big no, no. So, when she found out that her son-in-law was having poor sleep, she came to my shop to buy a few sets of pyjamas for him, and problem solved.

Wearing pyjamas set the tune for sleeping. So, you should find a good quality pyjamas that is soft and comfortable. Not only does it help you to sleep better but it also increases your self-esteem and quality of life.

Do pop by our wellness boutique at Thomson Plaza #01-07 to find a nice pyjamas for yourself and your family to have a good night sleep!

4. HAVE A BEDTIME BEAUTY RITUAL

Choose skincare meant for night-time use, such as Living Nature Nourishing Night Cream, Living Nature Radiance Night Oil, Esse Plus Restorative Moisturiser. These skincare products help your skin to regenerate while you sleep, and their scent of nature also can help you to relax and doze off more quickly.

Take a warm foot bath with a few drops of Esse Organic Body Oil into the water. After that, wipe dry and directly apply the oil to rough patches of your feet. Gently massage Esse Organic Light Body Moisturiser or Rich Body Moisturiser onto your feet, legs, arms and nails. With better blood circulation, a more hydrated skin and such sweet earthly scent, you will be able to have a better quality sleep.

5. SAY A MANTRA

A mantra is a form of meditation that consists of the repetition of a word or a phrase. Try this exercise if it is difficult to quiet your mind before bedtime. Choose a series of three words with pleasant connotations, such as peace-love-joy, or neutral ones like the numbers 1-2-3. Repeat the words over and over again. It help to counteract thoughts that produce anxiety. With reduced anxiety, you will be able to fall asleep easily.
